The Institute of Solomon Islands Accountants (ISIA) is very pleased to announce the appointment of a new Chief Executive Officer, Mrs Pamela Alamu who takes over from Mr Peter Forau. Mrs Pamela Alamu is no stranger to ISIA having previously held Council positions over past four years including two terms as Vice President. She is also one of the first women in Solomon Islands to successfully achieve CPA Australia certification. Pamela is an accounting graduate of USP and has over nine years working in the accounting and auditing industry.
ISIA President, Mr. David Dennis said that “Pamela’s appointment brings relevant professional skills and experience which will be vital for delivery of our strategy to achieve Professional Accounting Organisation status. She is well respected by her peers and understands the accounting industry here in Solomon Islands.“
CEO for ISIA Mrs Pamela Alamu said “I am excited about my new role and the opportunity to be directly involved in developing both our accounting profession and the Country. We have a lot to do and my immediate focus will be on fully developing our secretariat, and Accountants Act requirements and looking at training and development needs of our local accountants.” “We will also be launching our new website soon which will provide the public direct information of who are our qualified registered accountants in Solomon Islands” she said.
ISIA Council and new CEO also acknowledged the partnership between the Australian Government for its support to enable the Institute to recruit and fund the CEO role and deliver against its strategic plan.
The Institute also has a relationship with CPA Australia and is a member of the Confederation of Asia Pacific Accountants (CAPA).
The Institute of Solomon Islands Accountants was established under the Accountants Act 2010 and currently has 184 members. The Institute’s objects includes regulating and developing the practice of accountancy in Solomon Islands.
