Institute of Solomon Islands Accountants in partnership with CPA Australia will be hosting Technical Workshops in June featuring two sessions:

FIRST WORKSHOP 26TH JUNE 2019: Advanced Financial Investigation and Forensic Accounting

This workshop aims to provide participants with the skills needed to assist organisations in the investigation of business crime, the prevention of business crime and in contributing to the successful delivery of a forensic case in legal proceedings. It will include a more detailed analysis of some of the topics covered in the earlier workshop (held in Sept 2018) and include new topics and cases for discussion.

SECOND WORKSHOP 27TH JUNE 2019: The accountant as strategic business advisor

This workshop will present an introduction to the emerging role of the accountant as strategic advisor to business and government sectors. It will contrast the traditional role of the accountant as the custodian of financial records and the analyser of financial performance with the emerging role of the accountant as consultant to business and

government across a broad range of important issues.

The presenter will be Mr Dean Newlan who was in Solomon Islands in September 2018. Dean is a forensic accounting specialist with more than twenty-five years’ experience. He previously served with Victoria Police CIB Fraud Squad and leads KPMG’s forensic practice in Melbourne.

VENUE: Heritage Park Hotel

The fee for each session is SBD5,000 for Financial Members and SBD7,500 for Non-Financial Members. The workshop detailed overview and the presenter’s profile can be obtained from the Institute’s Secretariat at Room 41, NPF Plaza, Mendana Avenue.
